Is the United States Ready to Change?

Sunday Jun 28, 2009

Even though Barack Obama’s inauguration has happened, it may still be too early to tell whether the surge of patriotism we saw will be something we can count on going forward. The fact that we elected our first African American president was significant, but time will only tell if that is enough to keep people rallied behind the president.

Whether people know it or not, it would be beneficial to all of us, because we’ve been torn asunder long enough. One group that would certainly benefit would be American veterans. Many gave their youths to serving in wars and in some cases, they sometimes came home to poor medical care and public derision. That is the reason I created some veterans day clip art that honors veterans. Using the clip art wherever veterans will see it is a small way we can pay tribute to them. That show of support could mean a lot to veterans who feel their country has forgotten them. But we need to pay attention to veterans by doing more than just sending annual Veterans Day cards. The country’s support of them has to be ongoing. Our veterans have earned it. If that support doesn’t come from us; where will it come from?

Yet, it’s not just veterans who would benefit from our country having renewed interest in unity. It would be wonderful to see people saluting American flag images when on parade, because they genuinely believe in what the flag stands for. One would hope that love of country will help us unify. But will this reunification take place? Some people are vehemently opposed to President Obama’s changes. But that’s to be expected. To a certain extent, those differences protect us. That’s the way it’s supposed to work anyway. The people of the U.S. will just have to see what happens.

European airfares are alarming!

Wednesday Jun 24, 2009

It all depends on the part of the world you live in. For some the term European airfare will mean something sunny and bright and for others, it may mean something really gloomy. For some travelers, European airfare almost always means trouble. For another fortunate segment, it means less hassle, but how? Many people find it difficult, financially to get hold of the best, when it comes to European airfare deals. Even with the internet making revolutions in every field and making it easier on the tourists to buy airfare with a matter of a few mouse clicks, travelers may not see much advantage over European airfare rates

Problem number one is that different languages are spoken in Europe. The local travel agents may have better rates than the English websites online. So when you don’t speak their language, you naturally lose the advantage of getting to know the best European airfare deals. Therefore, You may want to learn speaking at least a tad bit of the language spoken in the country you are about to visit.

For all those travelers crossing seas and mountains from another corner of the world, European airfares may be quite heavy on the pocket. These travelers cross seas in international airlines which are way more expensive than European domestic airlines. So in comparison with travelers who move inside Europe, others fall in to a clear disadvantage in here as well.

If you feel the dire need to travel in Europe, simply get online and spend hours digging in travel agent details and of course fair European airfare deals. European airfares can be bought at fair rates if you spend time researching the best deals.

Once you have found a number of deals that look reasonable for you, do background check on the net (and also offline if possible) about the service provider. You should at all times guard yourself against possible scams that run on the internet. Never give out your credit card details or any other personal information if you are not sure about the authenticity of a website.

You should also remember that once an online purchase has been made, it is almost impossible to change dates or opt for a refund for European airfare deals. Therefore, make sure you will not backtrack on your decision, before you click that final button to okay payment.

How Could Labour Win The Next General Election?

Monday Jun 15, 2009

The recent European elections proved to be some what of a disaster for Labour and their leader Gordon Brown. Despite this Mr Brown has some how managed to stay on as leader possibly because there was no real alternative candidate from within the party who could do a better job, even though I am sure many would argue with this view point. Despte the assurances of Mr Brown that he will change etc. It is something that we have heard many times in the past. The public at large are also unlikely to forgive him for many of his errors and for this reason Labour currently have no chance of winning the next general election. So what can be done? What could Labour do to give themselves a chance of staying in power?

I am not an MP. I am just an average man from the UK who enjoys politics. I am a web promotion specialist based in the heart of England who promotes websites to do with stuttering, increase self-confidence and professional web promotion.

I may well have the solution to the current problems facing the Labour Party! Who is the one person, the one member of parliment who has spoken the most sense in the last twelve months? For me there is only one answer to this question - Vince Cable. Mr Cable is the MP for Twickenham and is the Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer.

So here is my idea and by the way I am by no way saying that it would be easy to carry off. I would offer the leadership of the Labour party to Vince Cable as a way of convincing him to switch parties. He may need to stand for a type of leadership election or vote however this would or at least should be a foregone conclusion that he would win. I would also let him take full control of the party therefore if he feels that Gordon Brown has to go then so be it.

As leader of the Labour Party I am sure that Vince Cable would become Prime Minister and that he would lead the country out of the desperate state that it is in. At the end of the day it all depends on how much Vince Cable wants to become the Prime Minister as it will never happen with the Lib Dems and whether he would be prepared to switch parties. I for one would love to see him switch and as our new leader.

election polls

Tuesday May 12, 2009

election polls

On November 4, 2008, United States of America went to polls for the election of its 47th president.  In the fray were Senator Barack Obama and Senator John McCain  As was expected, the polls generated huge interest among the US public.  The World Wide Web was a busy place with the websites showing interest in updates of the polls from the inception.  Webs on the US presidential election results mushroomed, some performing live updates.

The people were enthused over the 2008 polls since they needed a complete change as a result of the low esteem they had for the incumbent president and his performance which was aggravated by the unpopular Iraq war and the 2008 economic crisis.   Hence, everyone was all agog at all times to keep abreast with the latest updates on 2008 US presidential election results.

Websites made use of all the latest technology to present the viewers with as vivid a picture of the results as possible.  In one website, a dialog box with options for selecting the states was available, and once your preference was given a composite map of the particular state, and its results were projected at the click of the mouse.  Not only the 2008 US presidential election results but also the US House and US Senate results were added.  The entire USA results plus the complete map would appear at another click of the mouse.

Several webs exclusively showed presidential election results by maps.  These websites are complete with all the statistics under various categories such as age and demographic data, county results, electoral maps, county maps, winners by county, cartograms, and election maps, etc..  Not only the results of the 2008 election, but also the results and other comprehensive data connected with the previous presidential elections are available on some websites

Any researcher on US polls will find it quite easy to gather information on the presidential election results by making searches on popular search engines on the Internet.  These searches could be specific about popular votes, electoral votes or other tit bits of data which may seem unimportant to general readers.  Maps and various graphs drawn based on results are to be found on these webs which are of use to the research workers.
